San Cristóbal beach is located in a historic fishermen's quarter of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is an unfrequented pebble beach. It is very long and has several access points along the 600-metre promenade. Its composition changes between stretches of pebbles, black sand and rocky areas that appear at low tide.
It is not one of the most touristy places in the city, but being a historic fishermen's quarter, it is interesting to visit it and walk along the promenade that goes from the quay to the Castle of San Cristóbal, observing the colourful houses. Some of them have curious decorations with references to the sea. The castle is a tower that is surrounded by water at high tide.
In this neighbourhood you will find several restaurants, which, of course, are focused on seafood cuisine, and on the quay you will find the restaurant of the Cofradía de Pescadores (Fishermen's Guild) and El Atlante. There, taking advantage of the dyke, is a cove of fine, toasted sand called La Puntilla. When I passed by there, there was an outbreak of seaweed that covered the entire seafront.
There is a car park in the southern part of the neighbourhood where motorhomes and camper vans can be seen on an open field. There are no services but it is one of the points on the edge of the city where you can spend the night. It is also the car park used by people coming to the restaurants. There are three bus stops along this area so you can choose the one that suits you best.
