La playa de La Cícer, es una zona dentro de la Playa de Las Canteras, en su parte más al oeste dentro del barrio de Guanaterme. Es la mejor zona de Las Palmas para practicar surf y la única zona de toda la playa donde está permitido practicar deportes. Es de arena negra volcánica y siempre tiene buen oleaje ya que no tiene la protección de la barrera de arrecife, que si lo tiene el resto de la playa. Si te gusta el surf o el bodysurf, esta es tu playa en la ciudad.

La Cícer beach is an area within Las Canteras Beach, in the westernmost part of the Guanaterme neighbourhood. It is the best area in Las Palmas for surfing and the only area of the whole beach where you are allowed to practice sports. It is black volcanic sand and always has good waves as it does not have the protection of the barrier reef, which the rest of the beach does. If you like surfing or bodysurfing, this is your beach in the city.

It is so suitable for surfing or bodysurfing, because there are good waves all year round and they break on a sandy bottom, which makes it safer for this sport. It is perfect for both advanced surfers and beginners. You can see this separation between those who are closer to the shore and those who are positioned further back. In the area in front of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, there is a wave of several metres (I've seen it up to five metres high) that is only suitable for experts, which I've been lucky enough to see surfing. Quite a spectacle!

Near the beach, behind the promenade in the surrounding streets, you will find countless surf schools such as Buen Surf Sochool, 3RJ Surf Time, Oceanside Surf School, Feel Surf Camp, Mojosurf School, Surf Camp Low Cost, Brisa Surf School or California Sports Center. If you want to learn to surf, here are the schools and instructors you need. Local and international surfing and body surfing championships are held here, such as the European Tour of Bodysurf, which I was lucky enough to see. You'll also find bars, restaurants and all kinds of shops in the neighbourhood.

There is a paid car park for 3 euros per day where I have seen many surfer's vans and schools with all the boards inside. The ticket includes two bus rides, which makes it ideal to leave the car here and go to visit some other spots by bus for a very good price. The distance between this car park and the beach is about 500 metres. It is located just in front of the auditorium and Los Arenales Shopping Centre. It is also a place to spend the night with a camper van. There are other car parks in the neighbourhood but depending on the time of the day it is more difficult to park here.
