La Caleta is a natural cove of rock and boulders at the end of a small ravine near a housing estate in Agaete. It is little known and crowded, only those who like to be quiet in the middle of nature come here. It is a small cove with little place to lie down but we can sit on the rock. There are no amenities but the views here are priceless.
Normally there are quite a lot of waves and here there is a small space protected by a rocky tongue where we can access the water. I recommend that you come here bearing in mind that it can be a dangerous place depending on the sea conditions. There is a path on the side of the cliff that goes further north and areas where I have seen people practising nudism. There are rock platforms in some tricky areas where you have to walk carefully. The views of the ravine and the cliffs facing the sea are very beautiful.
From here, a 10-minute walk will take you to the natural swimming pools of Las Salinas, where you can always take a refreshing dip. We can also walk past the ravine to the Juncal beach, which is a bowling beach and not very frequented. On the way I came across a cave that the ancient inhabitants of the island, the Guanches, used as a dwelling. It was quite a surprise to come across this historical heritage without expecting it and which we must preserve.
This place should be very good to explore snorkelling or freediving because of its rocky seabed, but the swell during the days I spent here didn't let me explore it. If you like this sport you should go to Las Nieves beach, which is protected from the waves by the harbour. There is also a diving centre there and the views of the cliffs of the Tamadaba mountain and the Guayedra ravine are incredible from the beach.
There is a small car park for about 10 cars at the end of the dirt road and some people travelling in camper vans spend the night here. From here there is a concrete staircase down to the cove without stepping on the vegetation. Enjoy this place and take care of it. Don't leave any waste and if you see any rubbish take it with you. Let's thank nature for these places it gives us!
