La Cala del Metge is a beautiful bowling cove where nudism is practiced, located at the beginning of the Serra Gelada Natural Park, where the slopes and cliffs facing the sea begin.
We are in Albir, municipality of Alfaz del Pi. From here, we can observe a wonderful landscape of the bay of Altea that begins in the Beach of the Albir and finishes in the Mountain of Toix and also we reach to see Calpe and the majestic Rock of Ifach on the blue mantle of the Mediterranean.
This site is highly recommended for snorkeling, with rocky bottoms, changing orography with unevenness under water, even with an islet in front of the cove. It is also very common to see people passing by with paddle surfboards or kayak towards the nearby Cala de la Mina or Punta Bombarda where the Faro del Albir interpretation center is located.
For the more experienced and fit, you can go to the Uncle Ximo Cove in Benidorm, covering the entire south face of the Serra Gelada and enjoying the spectacular views of the cliffs and a small island, the Illa Mitjana.
To get here, we leave from the natural park car park and walk part of the way to the lighthouse. Shortly after the first sharp curve to the left, where there is a fountain, we will see a dirt track that goes down towards the cove. Before reaching the end, we must turn left and follow a path that is attached to the fence of the villa as the previous path was lost by some downpour. You can see the path in the video above. The last stretch is quite steep on rock so you will go better with shoes grabbed and for the cove bring escarpines.
Enjoy this natural space!
