Book sports activities and leisure plans in Benidorm Island
Benidorm Island, also known as the Journalists' Island, is a small island about 350 metres long and covers an area of 7 hectares. It is considered to be a continuation of the Sierra Helada. It is located in front off the coast of Benidorm and is of great scenic, ecological and environmental interest.
When we arrive at the island, we will be able to:
- Enjoy a meal or an aperitif in its only restaurant, Isla de Benidorm Restaurant.
- Walk along a path full of cactus until you reach the lighthouse. Although it is not difficult, due to the conditions of the terrain, we recommend the use of sports shoes. If you are accompanied by small children, it is best to use a backpack. The paths are not adapted for trolleys.
- Enjoy a dip and the mats on the sea.
- For those who love snorkelling and diving, we will say that the island has beautiful crystal clear waters where we will find fabulous aquatic ecosystems full of life. A paradise for divers. There are several companies with which we can make these dives depending on the level of each person. The best known areas are: Cala Norte, Los Arcos, Punta Garbí, El Embarcadero and La Llosa.
There are different ways to travel the 4 kilometers of distance that separate it from the coast:
- Rent a kayak or a paddle surfboard and go paddling.
- Go by boat with a diving company and take the opportunity to do some diving.
- Go by boat. The excursion is made by a company. The boats leave from the port (next to the Poniente Beach) all year round and from a boarding platform, located in the Rincón de Loix (in Playa de Levante) only during the summer months. To consult timetables and prices you can do so, for example, through this website. The tickets include the trip to the island (15' aprox.) while we enjoy the views on the deck seats. They also include an underwater view from some seats inside. The boat has a small bar where you can have an aperitif and toilet.
